Delaney Veterinary Services Internship Program

If you are looking for a position in a busy, ever-changing environment and enjoy working with a supportive and collaborative team, we are looking for you! The internships at Delaney Veterinary Services offer complete exposure to equine general and specialty practice. The diverse nature of our caseload will allow students to start to develop key areas of interest for their future careers.

The interns will rotate between the in-house (surgery, medicine and reproduction) and ambulatory services. Daily duties will include care of in-house cases, assisting with exams/surgical procedures, primary care on certain cases and emergency duties. Supervision will be direct for the first 3-6 months then slowly transition to indirect guidance (senior veterinarian always available for consultation) depending on the students’ abilities.

On-call emergencies are divided amongst the clinicians and interns at the hospital. We have full time support staff as well as many part-time staff, students, externs and volunteers. Interns will be directly supervised on all emergencies until they are proficient and confident to perform after-hours duties unassisted.

Compensation and benefits include a competitive salary, on-site housing, health and ancillary insurance, PLIT insurance, 401K with match, generous PTO, paid license and dues, CE allowance, and more. Through our partnership with Altano, interns have access to a mental health and wellness platform, and various CE and collaborative opportunities.

Prerequisites:

  • Graduate veterinarian from AVMA accredited school
  • Ability to obtain licensure in the Province of Alberta
  • We highly recommend students engage in an externship at Delaney Veterinary Services prior to application

Application Requirements: Current resume, letter of intent, three letters of professional reference.
